I have tried MANY different tequilas. While Fortaleza is my favorite, I would say Artenom 1414 (Reposado) and Artenom 1579 are amazing. I actually prefer their Reposado more than Fortaleza. Another great tequila is Terquila Ocho Single Estate. None of these need anything but a cube of ice for some great sips. |

Tequila Ocho will vary estate to estate, given that each bottling is sourced with agave from a single ranch so the terroir changes with each distillation just a little bit. Interestingly, if you can find a blanco, repo and anejo from the same year and ranch, you have the perfect taste test for what time in the barrel does to it, since all that booze came from the same harvest of agave and distilled in a batch, just aged differently. |

I was on a business trip a couple of weeks ago and found a bottle of G4 Anejo on the shelf at a store that sometimes has hard to find Tequilas. Around me, I can find most of the G4 expressions without too much work, but I've never seen the Anejo for sale. I had a sip of it over the weekend and really enjoyed it. Lots of agave on the nose and taste, some caramel and vanilla but not overpowering, and overall really tasty. I've enjoyed everything I've tried from G4 |
