| I'm evacuating my own lines, done this before and the unit still works 3 years later (knock on wood) but forgot the exact steps. Anyways, I hook up my vac/manifold to the access port on the low pressure valve. The instructions are for me to then open up the low pressure valve and evacuate. However if I open the low pressure valve, refrigerant comes out and pressurizes the line (and makes the valve cold). Am I supposed to pump out that refrigerant that seems to be residing in the low side? Or should I just pump out the lines to the indoor unit, then open up both of the high/low valves? |
LOL..... Oh and congrats, you now get to dump (recover) whatever is left of the existing charge and weigh it ALL back in adding of course the amount the sticker says to add according to the amount of line set you've installed. All that after you've pulled the proper vac of 500 microns or less of course.

Mini-splits are fucking awesome.. the ones that don't suck, anyhow.
Not gonna lie... I wussed out and chose to get an AC guy to do it for me. (I installed the unit myself as I am a cheap bastard) But you really need to make sure your lines are clean and emptied before filling. |
