I'm starting to look at a new career.  I'm currently a USAR O-3 doing ROTC duty.  I'm coming up on the end of my service obligation and considering looking at the AF.  Anyone know if it's possible to convert from USAR as an officer to USAF active duty as an officer?  I wouldn't care if I dropped down to O-1, but I'd like to know if it's possible to do.  If not, I may resign my commission and enlist.  Right now, my wife says no way.  Not sure what I'd want to do in the AF either.  What can officers do besides fly and meteorology?  I have a bachelors in Psychology and masters in Guidance and Counseling.

Same stuff as the Army. If your not rated (AF-speak for pilots/aircrew/space & missile - basically the AF's combat arms), the jobs are gonna be the same as support/logistics in any other branch...

I don't know about inter-service transfers once commissioned. I do know you can get commissioned into a different service from the one you joined as an enlisted soldier, thought it didn't apply to officers...

What exactly do you think would be different from USAR to USAFR?

I tried to join the AF out of college (OTS), was looking for a career on the rated side (ABM, possibly pilot if I could make it)... Diagnosed with bad depth perception (despite 20/20 vision), and that was it - no AF for me... Now I'm looking at the Army instead...

Call an Air Force officer recruiter and get the pitch from the guy.

Unless you have an AF skill, I doubt it.  Why not stay Army?  Hell, take the chance, get in shape and go SF or something before you become too old (like me!)
You could take a title 10 job someplace cool and look around for a nice 32 job or go RA.
13 series on the active side isn't a bad life.  13 is dead end guard and reserve, they are all(well, a lot) converting to MPs
