You know, giving a hint as to what the artical is about is good.  You are doing that more and more, but I don't click on links that don't have some sort of explanation as to what is is all about.

Just a sentence or two is fine, but this is way to sparse.

Well since they're trying to keep our children from enjoying model rockets because of what some "terorist" may do with them, they may as well shut down RC planes while they're at it.

RAT BASTARDS!!!

Someday though I doubt it, people will realize that many harmless things can be used in a harmful manner, go after the people who do this not the harmless things.

Check out the website I have listed on my sig line. The F-100 model rolling down the runway and really tricked out to be an exact scale replica can worth be as much as $25,000. YES, I said 25 THOUSAND dollars. I know one such gentleman who has 2 of the F-100's and at least one of every other aircraft model listed on the site. All of them turbine powered.

These jet aircraft cannot be modified to carry much more than 5-15 pounds. There simply is no room inside the fuselage, and too much weight and or drag makes them impossible to fly. They are fast though. The F-100 flies at a true airspeed of 200 mph easily. The Super Bandit flies at over 275 mph in level flight. This is NOT scale speed, I'm talking about real mph.

These are more capable of carrying a good sized payload. The problem with the whole idea of delivering an explosive or biological device like this is the radio link's inherently short range. You must be NO MORE that 1 mile away, and in the line of site of the model. Not that any terrorist has not already shown willingness to die in any such attack, it's the question of where are you going to "take off" a 40 lb., 10' wingspan model airplane in or around say......the White House? One of these Carden aircraft ready to fly would cost $3-5K

There will be some ticked off modelers if these get banned in the states.

I'm not saying an attack could not be done with a model, it's just that there are far easier and less conspicuous ways to deliver the package.

Why can't we just enforce the laws we already have? [pissed]

In the "good old days" it was just illegal to commit a crime. In the last few years they have been making it illegal to do anything that could allow you commit a criminal act.
