Hello all, Newer builder here looking to add a .5 airbrush to my tools. I currently have a GSI Creos Procon Boy PS-289, which is a .3 and has been great. .5 would be for the car bodies (Primer/base/2k clear) mostly. I am currently looking at these: - Iwata HP-CS with a .5 conversion - Will get me a backup .3 and a .5 (additional cost) - Grex Tritium.TG5 - Iwata Revolution HP-CR - GSI Creos Procon Boy PS-266 0.5mm - Badger Patriot 105 Open to other suggestions as well. I'm sort of interested to know if your airbrush has the ability for both needles and nozzles? Both of my double action brushes: an old Paasche VL, and my cheap Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BW5M8KGX came with multiple tip sizes. I find myself using the cheap airbrush more often than the Paasche. (it's easier to disassemble, and I like the top cup feed better than the Paasche's below the nozzle cup feed.) I mostly spray Tamiya acrylic with 91% IPA. |

I'm fairly certain my 289 is only .3 I am leaning toward the Iwata HP-CS. Comes with a slightly larger .35 and the .5 conversion is relatively cheap. Plus its a Iwata. I spray mostly Tamiya Lacquers, thinned with Mr Hobby leveling thinner. I do have some Zero and Splash Paints to try as well - those are pre-thinned. |

@dsm600rr Sorry, I know this thread is nearly 6 months old, but did you end up getting a new brush? I have 3 Iwata brushes I use ranging from .2 to .5 The HP-TR2 (in the middle, .5 nozzle) I use *only* for 2K Clear. (I really like the bottom trigger design for spraying larger areas.) It's a little more work to do a deep cleaning, which of course you want to do with 2K Urethane's. If that stuff dries up inside the brush, it can become an expensive paperweight all too quickly!

@tifosi Yes Sir - ended up getting the HP-CS. You got a nice collection of brushes. My next may be a 0.5 with a trigger like you pointed out. Especially for primers and 2k clears. I think I need a better booth first. Attached File I haven't got to the body yet, however it is coming up here shortly. Its been an adventure to say the least haha. Attached File |

I use one of those cheap plastic booths that are all over eBay and Amazon, and quite honesty, it doesn't have enough "suck" especially for really nasty stuff like the 2K Urethane's. I need to invest in a better spray booth and get it vented to the outside.

Build it! https://vent-works.com/blogs/the-ventilation-blog/15945741-diy-hobby-spray-booth I used the plans, but expanded it a little.  If I saw this thread earlier I would have suggested the Grex with the fan attachment. I use it for larger surfaces and my HP-SC for everything else. |
