Id like to believe someone made it but I doubt it.

I remember one of the prisoners mentioned he received a postcard from an anonymous person with the phrase "Gone Fishin" which was apparently a special code Morris was to show that they made it

Too far, too cold, too dark, too strong a current, too field-expedient a raft.

Yes they made it.

I'd like to add that folks have recreated the swim and made it.

A raft was indeed found on Angel Island with footprints, and the next day a blue 55 Chevy was stolen. Later a man by Stockton reports three men in a blue Chevy almost ran him off the road....

But...3 career criminals made no wrong moves for the rest of their lives where prints were left???

One was the Zodiac Killer,

one highjacked a 727,

The other worked for years for George Lucas in Marin County –– Jar Jar Binks was his idea

How many are released from prison that never get sent back?  These guys had even more incentive to keep their noses clean.

That's about it. They initially started robbing banks because they were laborers/ farm hands. They couldn't really pay all the bills so they decided to make more money with banks. Grandpa never said anything about them really. He did get weird letters on a couple of occasions, but never anything definitive. I find it hard to believe that they survived. I know that Clarence had a daughter named Zona who lives in Il. If they had survived I would believe that he had would let his daughter know.  However, that generation wasn't really one to run their mouths about anything. After some dealings with running shine back in the day they didn't really care for LE.

More than likely they would have attempted some kind of a book deal as they are in their 70's now if they survived.

I have WATCHED a body go underwater in the SF bay, never to be seen again. Bodies do strange things in water, not surprised at all that they were not found.

<––––- Worked on the San Francisco Bay since 2005, damn near every day. Some operating a boat, some in a Helo.

I say HELL NO did they make it. The water is too cold, the currents too strong.

I bet they made it.  The US Marshals are keeping the case open until the youngest man of the three reaches the age of 100.  That should tell you there's a good chance that they made it.

I bet they're all dead by now though.
