Chicken carcass from tonight’s meal. Don’t tell me this didn’t inspire some ideas for the pod hatchlings….

And that is likely much closer to the original inspiration

Definitely HR Giger.
I'd post an example of his art but I don't think I can find any that won't get me a mod warning, at least.
He made some fucked up images.

Giger suffered from night terrors, and his art was his therapy as he tried to paint what he saw.  I can’t even imagine what he saw…

I googled "HR Giger", clicked on images and scrolled down for quite a while. Nearly nothing there would get anyone a mod warning here. There is like 5% of the art that has weird horror boobs or whatever but....you can for sure post any of the other 95% of the images of his art that appears in a google search. It's mostly all that same bio-mechanical content/style that is used in the aliens movies.  Nothing against the rules here.

Google facehugger underside. It's a literal human vagina. There's a heavy sexual assault theme in the movies.

The story came from a comic book that is about some sailors coming across a meteor.

The story that was used is actually very similar to the premise of The Thing.

There’s an interesting documentary on Alien called Memory. It’s available to stream on Freevee.

This first time I saw Alien as a kid, I laughed a little because it was obviously made from oysters.

Don't forget "Planet of the Vampires" (1965) which was a considerable part of the story line.

Yep. This too

I had the chance to purchase an original Giger painting when I was in college but traveling in Europe (early 90s).  I was in Zurich and a studio had some of his works.

I should have bought it, but I was a kid and had no way to get it home safely. It was a landscape and didn’t have all of the sexual stuff.  Very obscure piece but I was very familiar with his work and knew what I was looking at.

That’s one of those things that I regret from my younger days.
