I am desperate to build a house, but live in remote WY where there are either no contractors or they are busy. Has anyone done any of the new home building methods? SIPs, ICFs, anything that me my dad and a couple of buddies could do. My dad used to be a carpenter, so he knows how to frame, but he doesn't have all the time in the world to help me with it. I am mostly curious if they are as 'easy' as they say or I would be better off just framing the shell 2x style anyway. I have been looking pretty close at SIPs from Enercept. My wife is going to take my floor plans to them thursday. Can anyone offer advice? I am not afraid of framing the interior walls, doing the electrical, plumbing, drywall, flooring etc. But I do not want to frame the exterior. Mostly cause I want someone with experience to get it perfectly square. Does anyone have some advice? |
