"From now on we are enemies, You and I. Because You choose for Your instrument a boastful, lustful, smutty, infantile boy and give me for reward only the ability to recognize the incarnation. Because You are unjust, unfair, unkind, I will block You, I swear it. I will hinder and harm Your creature on earth as far as I am able."
That line is one of my favorite lashings against Christianity in recent years, excellent movie. |

. . . it was a good movie even though it was grossly inaccurate.
Interesting. More info? Saliari never tried to kill himself There's no evidence that he and mozart were anything but good friends By the time of his death Mozart was court composer, not Saliari Mozart was bedridden for a couple weeks before he finally died Mozart had a total of 6 children but only two survived Saliari didn't help Mozart with the Requiem at all, Mozart's student Sussmyer(sp?) did once Mozart could no longer physically write. Mozart did make rough drafts, there are many original manuscripts that have parts scratched out Mozart did infact make a lot of money, most of the years he was alive his income was in the top 10%, but he spent money like a drunken sailor too. 80% of people that died in Vienna at that time where buried in mass graves There's a lot they got wrong in that movie but it's been years since I read any biographies on Mozart so that's just what I remember off the top of my head. |

Well, after a bit of browsing I finally learned why Tom Hulce, the brilliant actor who played Mozart and was a fratboy in Delta House, never banged the Mayor's daughter! He's a poof. It fits. Great movie, Amadeus...but as described above, filled with inaccuracies. Wonder if he died of rheumatic fever as postulated or trichinosis from uncooked pork? |
