Anybody a member? Looking for their streaming services. Is it worth it?
Primarily looking for a new place to watch Spartacus, and Netflix couldn't get a contract settled and they will no longer stream Starz stuff. Shitty. Was wondering if you get episodes right after they air or what, and if the price is in the Prime membership or if it is extra for each episode? Thanks. |

Amazon prime is worth it for the free 2-day shipping with no minimum order alone.
Amazon streaming is awesome, particularly with a device like a Roku. Spartacus is available, but it's not free with prime. Only a subset of what they have available is free to prime members. The cost would seem to indicate, you're better off buying the DVD or Blu-ray of it. |

I love Prime but I don't use it for streaming.

also some people dont know that you can get a prime account for free (for a year) if youre a student or parent/caregiver of a student. the free two day shipping is nice Negative, Ghost Rider. The free year deal was stopped. It was dropped to 6 months for students and 3 months for moms. What's more, they've suspended acceptance into the mom's program. I think the 6 month student offer is still valid. |

I have it but I get it solely for the free shipping. Just for that, its totally worth it if you shop online primarily (as I do).

Still a good deal though. |

I have Amazon Kindle Fire, it comes with Amazon Prime for the first month. Renewal is $80/year.
If you order once a month, and the average shipping and handling charge is $6.00, that would be $72/year or less than Prime costs. To break even you must order more often than once a month, or order items that have higher shipping costs, or use the streaming to make up the difference. The other advantage Prime has is that things ship two day, not the cheaper shipping that might take a week or longer. On the other hand, lots of things on Amazon don't ship Prime. Streaming via Amazon Prime is OK, but Netflix or Hulu have similar content available. I am going to renew just to check it out, but I don't think it will be economically worth it for next year unless I change my buying habits and shop online more. I enjoy AKF, but it currently appears to not quite be worth it economically. Steve |

Did not know about the student prime thing, that's awesome.
Amazon's a great place to find school books in particular and half the time the shipping on used books costs as much or more than the books. I say that looking at my used hardcover textbook on comparative euro politics that cost me $0.29, but the shipping was 8 bucks on. |
