I know this is general discussion but I figure I will get more traffic here. Also, it is more of a technical discussion more than anything else. I confess that I am ammo ignorant. I notice that there are all kinds of ammo types, FMJ, hollowpoint, jacketed hollowpoint, black talons, hyrdrashock, gold dot, etc etc. To be honest I only vaguely know the difference. I was wondering if anyone has a guide or link to explain the difference between all of these types? What is good for what kind of job, what brands are good for Self defense and what is good for high quality taget shooting? I am mainly ignorant in terms of handgun rounds as it seems that is the most specialized. In rifles I normally only hear about hollowpoint and FMJ. Does hollowpoint severally effect accuracy and distance in rifles? Please help a kid out. |
