You can just go to any random field and set up a range? People back east don't think public land be like it is, but it do. And to think a lot of easterners want to privatize public lands out west. People seem to think that .gov owns the land. We own the land, .gov is the caretaker. At least that is how it is supposed to work. |

Quoted: Did they conduct and environmental impact survey and think of the impact to desert tortoises prior to construction? I think not. View Quote Local BLM and USFS regularly post notices here telling people to NOT build cairns, I have to imagine the mazes have to be way past the line for them. I know USFS will go so far as to have crews dismantle cairns that aren't trail markers. |

The aerial views of the first example almost look like a revetment for an aircraft.

It's also a no-no outside designated shooting ranges in the Wayne National Forest here in Ohio. @glock27bill |

I have cleaned up an area only to go back and find it in worse condition than before. |

OP, where is this?
My interneting for the morning has turned up that it's likely west of Rexburg, ID in Jefferson County on the BLM land on either side of highway 33. I can't find it beyond that. |

But here in WA the state lands commisioner seems to think DNR land is for the exclusive use of groups she approves. Shooters and hunters do not meet her requirements And game herds should be in the public trust, but WA's fish and wildlife commission has been populated by anti-hunter leftists for decades now. |

Quoted: I don't understand. You can just go to any random field and set up a range? View Quote Not any field but the western states have huge swaths of public land. I was a little nervous about only having 4 acres when we bought our place but we have access to thousands of acres of public land. Some people pretty much reside on it. You can only camp on it for x number of days so they move camping spots and the clock resets. Off-roading, camping, shooting, hunting…lots of good stuff. |
