I've been a long time lurker on this site,  but haven't signed up for lack of a non-anonymous email except my work email. I couldn't hold off any longer though and finally bit the proverbial bullet and signed up with my work email, hopefully nothing goes wrong with my continued employment. (the area is pretty conservative I think I will be okay).

I really appreciate the wealth of knowledge and humor on this board and I want to contribute to it. I hate freeloaders so I bought a team membership and hopefully this will save me from being join date post counted into irrelevance for the next couple months.

I am an education and business consultant and essayist on firearms and other civil liberties issues. I collect firearms and classic folding knives (hence the name and avatar).

Regards,

GerberFolder

Once you're "in" you can change your email to your regular email address. Think of it like "initiation".

Yes.

But I collect AR15s too!

Maybe the Fudd guns outnumber the AR15s but I have skin in this game.

You can start with my avatar. Its a 1970 Gerber Sportsman's Folder valued at $125 in today's market.

Entirely handbuilt in Portland Oregon.

4" blade, one piece locking mechanism, brass handle with inlaid mahogany.

Its my favorite even though it isn't that valuable because it was my dad's and started the collection.

I just noticed you are from KS. For some reason the Gerber made me think you were in Oregon. OKCA stands for Oregon Knife Collectors Association. Not much reason for you to be a member.

Oh, I didn't even notice the "O" and read it as KCA = Knife Collectors Association.

Funny how the brain sees what it wants to.

welcome.

One of your close friends comes by one day with a shoebox he found in the attic of his new house. He opens the box and inside is a very old ornate dagger. You immediately recognise it as a damascus steel weapon of the 2nd crusades.
Before you can open your mouth,he asks whether you can take the old thing off his hands for 100 bucks. He needs the cash right now for some curtains in the new house.
How do you respond?

Just make sure it's one you remember the password too. When/if you get locked, that is where the email is going.

I ask him to get it authenticated and into a museum it goes.

Or... If I was in a different mood I would offer to be his "manager" and get the knife authenticated, auction it on his behalf, and split the profits.
