I'd like to add: This has never ended well anywhere online. You're attempting to make a set of rules to govern a very specific topic but you're actually setting a precedent. You can tell when a post here is about Trump, just don't fucking click it if you're gonna be triggered. Normies ruined the internet, they literally can't help themselves from clicking on shit they know is going to trigger them. The stove is hot guys, how many fucking times does it take?

Not going to deny this, it's been something going on for many years from different venues. It's often easy to find these folks through their posting patterns. The key for us is to respect two sided conversations. We are however going to make more efforts to warn and then remove folks who can't control themselves or who have patterns of trolling. Even if you are a good conservative gun owner, there is no reason to hound someone else because you disagree with them. They may be a shill, or they may end up just being different than you. Give us more intel and we will definitely handle shills and trolls the best we can. |

A couple things:
1. I'd like to see that bowtie in your avatar be plaid. 2. Can Trump be criticized in the fake moon-landing threads? Because it's not at all clear that he didn't have something to do with that. |

Don't go crazy and overreact. We don't want to ban folks or make this bigger than it is. It's a simple measure, if you troll, we want you back in your cave.
We have gone through this in cycles with religious threads, political threads, and even chili threads. The key here is don't be an ass, simply to be an ass. Going into a discussion to voice your opinion is fine. Going into every thread you see to create chaos by voicing your dissenting opinion is trolling. It's like TV, don't like what's on, change the channel. So when you see 20 threads you don't like, it's not your job to jump into them all and tell people to eat a turd. Skip those threads and focus on others. If you are drawn into a specific thread, it happens, it's cool. Say your peace and defend your stance. Dropping a bomb in a thread and running, knowing it's going to create chaos isn't cool. |

Listen folks, we are all supposed to wear our big boy pants and realize that being a dick on a forum may be fun, but it's also a quick way off the forum. The reason this post had to be made is because we are a little annoyed with seeing two extremes on here as much as we are sick of seeing them on the news. Trump is our President and deserves our respect. If you don't like him, that's fine and you are entitled to your opinion, but this is not the place to troll Trump threads to voice your displeasure. If someone happens to say something in a Trump thread, which seems to question him or his actions, it's not the time to lose your cool and call that person a Hillary lover. In short, respect each other enough as gun owners to have a conversation without letting it dwindle into chaos. Again, it's fine to have differing opinions, we love that! This will always be a place to freely agree or disagree on many topics, as long as you can survive a discussion in a calm manner. If you are a constant thorn for one reason or another, you will be banned. We want good people here willing to respect others, not just a giant group think community. Love him or hate him, Trump brings emotion to people. I'm not sure why, but so be it. As such, it's best you don't let emotion rule you in an online discussion. So from now on, if you troll, you should not expect your account to last. By trolling we do mean jumping into threads to create an issue, or constantly jumping into similar topics to be a nuisance. I really don't think I need to explain what trolling is. Have a wonderful evening. View Quote It's fucking highly intellectually dishonest to call someone a Libtard or Commie. Just because someone wants Trump to actually support bills for the 2nd Amendment, it's not like the dude is calling for real, actual socialism. |

Curious.
Reminds me of a time in college that I was working day labor/construction to pay for books and tuition. (Florida State University-I'm not ashamed to say where I went.) I was working on the Stadium....building what is now the "student section" (Pensacola Street still ran along the Stadium back then). I yelled out to a foreman about the truck that he just parked. "YOUR TRUCK IS IN THE WAY! THE DELIVERY TRUCK IS GONNA HIT IT!". He looked at me funny, pretended he didn't hear me (after all, I was a day laborer and he was a foreman.....he knew better) again, "YOUR TRUCK IS IN THE WAY! THE DELIVERY TRUCK IS GONNA HIT IT!". He got annoyed and looked away and went on talking. So a dump pulls up......and hits his Z71 (which were all the rage in those days)......dfff He comes back and goes apoplectic.....I made brief eye contact with him. Best "I told you so" moment without ever speaking a word. Shit is going downhill. So like I said,............................ "YOUR TRUCK IS IN THE WAY! THE DELIVERY TRUCK IS GONNA HIT IT!". |

This problem could be better managed by reorganizing the General subforums.
"Politics & Activism" should be changed to "Political Science & Discourse." Drop the activism part. There is already a subforum for 2A Activism, which is the kind that should matter most to this community. Sweep all polisci threads from GD to the newly designated subforum. Let the Trumpets have their echo chamber. Manage the real shills through containment first, then ban as necessary. At the same time, this would cut down on the bitching and moaning in GD. Any idiots that can't have an intelligent political debate should be banned from the polisci subform, then permabanned if they start their shit in GD. MAke Gd Great Again! |

I didn't give a shit, because it's ridiculous and my stance on McCain was valid. To the point that almost every swinging dick here now shares that stance . Was I trolling? Because I disagreed with McCain? Because I disagreed with the people saying if I didn't vote for him, I was an Obama-loving dickhead? We'll see where this policy leads, I guess. I've often said that AR15.com is like almost no other board on the internet, with as much freedom to express even unpopular opinions people have here. But I can absolutely see where this might lead to arf GD becoming like any other social club where people can't stand to hear any opinion that isn't in lock-step with their own (like DU). Not saying that will happen. Just that this is a pretty good step towards that. "If you don't like it, leave!" I hear people saying. I'll wait to see how it plays out. If I'm worried over nothing, then I won't need to leave. If it's a realistic fear, then I probably own't feel like posting or reading much here anymore. |

You cant blame "normies" on a site that is already highly moderated. Well, relatively so. Much less so than DU, but much more than say IRC. Old fags on arf, are still just spermies compared to most BBS. Bad analogy for this site. This is simply enforcing rules that were already on the books. View Quote |

Problematic trouble makers? Yeah. Always get rid of those guys.
I wonder what term the British used for our founding fathers? I say we cover up the thread titles that are offensive with blankets. Maybe people will be safer then. If we tear out really hated threads maybe people will sleep better at night. I know not offending people is high on my list of priorities. Silencing someones opinion is great and all. Until it's yours. China seems really free. Maybe if opinions are silenced in a really responsible way! Your site your rules but something about it does not sit right. |

I imagine the casualty list from the locked Trump thread is pretty high. I can't believe some of the comments I read.
Nothing witty to add but I liked this place a lot better when it was about guns and gun rights. |
