Not sure.  When you get to the point that you can longer send txts, I can help you with that though.

Pull the battery, pull the SD card, leave them out, plug in USB power cable, try to turn on.

Result?

Make a video explaining and showing the problem.

If you get it back up and running, root it and put a (stable!) custom rom on it.

This is correct. I hated Apple products and swore I wouldn't buy another until my Droid started being a pain in the ass. I've been tempted to chunk mine out the window while driving.

And for every story like that, there is one going the other way.

Flip open the keyboard

Find the ALT and that up arrow key above ALT, and the DEL key on the upper right corner.
Press all 3 at the same time, it is the Droid2's Ctrl-Alt-Del
This will do a reboot of the Droid2, similar to pulling the battery, but without the hassle.
Off topic:

FYI, for all the Droid naysayers... I've had my Droid2 for almost 2 years and after I got used to Android, I've never had any real problems with it. Zero dropped calls, Zero crashes, zero problems, etc... and I use it as a GPS when I travel, it is essentially my link to the world when I am away from a computer. My battery life is great, I can get 2-3 days on one charge if I use it a lot, or up to 7 days if I rarely touch the phone.

The only complaints I have: CPU is too slow, 3G is too slow when in a congested environment, and there aren't any good holsters available. We have well over 5000 people at work in the region, and on the full days, 3G crawls to less than 0.1 Mbps downstream unless I go to another part of the complex closer to a different tower. It's ridiculously slow. The single core processor in the Droid2 is also slow, but overall I can live with the Droid2 for another year or 2 before I want to upgrade.

The only positive aspect I see about iPhone is that it is a concentrated product line, so vendors are eager to make holsters/accessories for a product that is so focused in one style/design. Otterbox, Magpul, and other companies pump out tons of cases for iPhone because the exterior design is fixed.

Android's major vulnerability is that the product is too dispersed. There are multiple OEMs using Android as the OS, with a large variety of phone designs and that makes case vendors hesitant to focus on one particular phone. But this is a double edged sword as the open architecture of Android allows for more innovation at a MUCH faster pace. When iPhone 4, iPhone 4S debuted, they were already obsolete by 6 months or more. When iPhone 5 debuts, it's going to be the same thing.

When the US military adopts a standardized smartphone/tablet system, they're not likely to pick Apple for one reason and one reason only: you are LOCKED to a single vendor and source of supply with Apple, and they are not compatible with Android apps.  The Pentagon authorized iPhones and iPads for official use, but when they roll this out for the entire DoD, it won't work because they'd have to justify why they are using a sole source vendor when Android is available at a potentially lower price. If Android is selected, they open it up to Samsung, HTC, LG, Motorola, and a bunch of other vendors - and Android apps are going to be 99% compatible across all of these Android devices, so they can potentially focus on 1 type of app. BlackBerry was hot shit with the DoD for 4-5 years because of the Enterprise email management. That's changing fast because all the BlackBerry is good for is email, and even then I'd rather use my Droid2.

For 2012, if the OEMs are not running Android or iOS, they're done for.
Nokia and Blackberry are supposed to roll out their latest products
running, ahem, Windows Phone 7, which is also a failure like Symbian and
BlackBerry.

No joy, dammit.

Is there a manual override to the swipe lock?

Any other suggestions?

take off battery, put battery in one sock and phone in other sock, do 10 jumping jacks then put battery on phone and turn on.  I dont know how or why it works but it does.  I thought it was a joke when I first read it but I swear by this when I encounter the problem you stated.

Check this out,

I'll check XDA and see if there is an easier way to do a factory reset and come back and edit this post with a link if I find one.

ETA,  post #6 in this thread,

I'm going to assume that there is a " factory reset " sub menu in the recovery area and you will also have to reactivate your phone through Verizon,  you will loose anything on your phone,  hopefully you have backed your contacts up somewhere.
