Alright, I need to thin out the mixture on my two stroke gas.
Right now it's mixed at 4 oz of oil to 1 gallon of gas. I need to thin it out to 3 oz of oil to 1 gallon of gas. How much gas do I need to add to get it down to 3oz? ––- in before 87 |

There are 128fl oz per gallon, and you've currently got it mixed 4oz for every 128oz or 1oz oil to every 32oz gas. You want 3oz for every 128oz so that would be 1 oz oil for every 42.6 oz gas. So, for each 4oz you'll need (42.6x4) 170.4oz of gas. Subtract the gas you've already got (128oz) and you get 42.4oz of gas you'll need to add to get the mixture you're wanting. |

there are 128 oz. in a gallon.
you have a ratio of 4/128, you want to add to it for a ratio of 3/128. 4/(128+X) = 3/128 (4/3)*128 = 128+X (4/3)*128 -128 = X 128*(4/3-1) = X 128*(1/3) = X 42+2/3 = X add 42 and 2/3 oz. of gas for each gallon. (or you could say add 1/3 gallon of gas for each gallon.) |
