| Another quake felt in Evansville IN |
I thought it was supposed to be the Juan de Fucca?
|
Ohio may go first. |
|
I don't think it was the first one. It was the third or fourth earthquake that formed Reelfoot lake. Dennis Jenkins
|
I didn't say which 'quake created it. |

Few things in the midwest are built to tolerate seismic activity. That, in additon to the different bedrock mentioned, is bad news. Speaking for MO, there is a reason why the state has fought so hard to maintain control of aviation, engineer, and MP National Guard units throughout all the years of force restructuring. Anything over 6.5 has the potential to leave tens of thousands of people cut off from support. Nearly every road in that area features bridge after bridge - none built to handle a quake. Don't even get me started about the buildings. There is no good reason why St. Louis shouldn't have the same earthquake codes as San Francisco or LA. It doesn't. |
Maybe it will swallow Chicago |
LMAO! |
Funny, but the last thing we need are liberals displaced from another big city fouling up good parts of the country. |
As a sometime construction worker, I was about to say the same thing. |
then you all need to quit wishing that california falls off into the ocean. |
Good advice but not as much fun or rewarding.... |
yeah, im gonna have to give you that. |
I'm not one of the people who wishes that, but I think your logic is a little off. The whole point of hoping that Cali falls into the ocean, is that there won't be any Liberals left to displace. They will be...In the Ocean. Under water. |
then how come swallowing chicago will "displace" liberals, and california falling off into the ocean will "dispatch" liberals? dave no understand. |
| not to downplay the event but there are 10's of thousands of quakes in the u.s. every year. hope you all are well and with little damage. be prepared and trained to deal with them is all, its amazing how many folks dont know earthquakes are a possibility in their ao |
This is all in the realm of fantasy, but many Arfcommers expect coastal California to be completely inundated by the Ocean, whereas Chicago, and East St. Louis would still remain high and dry even in the most cataclysmic event. 95% loss of Left Coast Liberals, vs. maybe 30% casualties in the heartland, with the remaining 70% collecting fat FEMA checks and gift cards. It's not a geologically realistic wish, and I do not hope for it. (at least not until I get back later this week, anyway) |
i know.. im just messing around. the sad fact is that LA is moving towards San Fran, so in a few millenia we will have one big superlibpower on the west coast. |
