I just bought an external hard drive to put all of my music on. What is the best way to do this? Can I have iTunes import it to the drive or do I need to copy it to the drive and have iTunes import it from there? I only want one copy of the songs on my external, not my laptop HD. |

I have all my music on an external drive. iTunes will locate this Library if it's identified correctly. I go into iTunes Preferences/advanced/general and it shows the location of my iTunes Music Mine says LaCie Disk:iTunes Music To the right is a change and reset button. IIRC I copied all my music to the iTunes Music folder on my external then changed the name of the original (so iTunes would not look for it). Once iTunes found the new folder on the external I erased the files on the internal drive. |
