Does anyone know how to remove the spindle from an old Yale mortise lock?
This has a knob on one side only. No spindle hole on the exterior side. The other side is a thumb latch.
I did it. The spindle is split. I could not see the join due to grime and rust buildup.
If anyone is interested, here are pics of the hardware and the door. It’s a Yale 501, marked made in USA.

I found the door and lock in a pile of debris when cleaning the barn. I’m turning one the horse pens into a work shop so I am reusing the leftover door.
Here it is in a 6” frame.

take better detailed pics? from what i see there i would consider trying to use a punch and hammer to knock the part out from the back, (tap it lightly and see if it moves)
