Seems like some fun shit, kinda wanted to try it this summer but know no one that would be remotely interested in shit like that.

So, is there anyone here that is an experienced caver?

I won't even fall in a hole.

If you're a Caver named Dave, would you be a Cadaver?

I'm more of a rock climber but have done a little caving. A lot of the rope work is similar, so it's an easy transition.

A dated a chick in college that would qualify me.

"Geez ya got a big....geez ya got a big....."

"Why did you say that twice?"

Are you a sphincter spelunker?

I know a lot of guys who cave whenever their woman tells then to do something. Does that count?

Done a lot of rock climbing, and want to do some caving. There is a REALLY cool cave here in Austin (actually a few), but yeah, getting fools to go with is tough.

I'm usually right on the edge of looking in the entrance and going "F*$%# That.." but it's still too compelling. I gotta go in. There is something to be said for doing things that make you really uncomfortable...makes the rest seem easy, and anytime you are exploring, it's really cool to be where others seldom go...

Maybe we can set up some type of ARFcom thing if anyone but myself is interested(need experienced people for the most part). I've got $400 free in flights from Delta I wouldn't mind using this summer

I was into spelunking for a while then I blew my knee out in Jiu Jitsu. Here in South Texas we have lots of cavers that go out to private property and explore. If you go to naturalbridgecaverns.com and look up the adventure tour you can get an intro to Texas caving! Peace!

Spelunked in Texas in HS (early '70s).  If I saw anyone being as unsafe as we were back then, I'd probably call the LEOs and see if they couldn't be stopped.  We sure were stoopid about shit back then.

We used to go caving here in TN when I was in high school quiet a bit.

I have been in most all of the non-commercial caves and grottos in West Virginia and Virginia, many are closed off to the public now, some are easy, and some you truly have to know how to repel and climb.

Best campout ever when I was in High School we traveled for 31 days to different caves and camped out the entire time.

+1.  I just saw it a couple nights ago.  No way I'm getting near a cave in the forseeable future.

I was none too comfortable with the idea of caving anyways.

I've done it several times, both in natural and man-made (Imperial Japanese Army).

The natural caves are by far spookier.  Longest trip was five hours, mostly wiggling through tube-like holes that were so tight that my only means of propulsion were my toes and fingers.  Sometimes upside down, some S-shaped curves, and sometimes both.  My favorite is one that is hidden in plain sight on board MCAS Futenma, Okinawa.

You just haven't lived until you've had to swim across an underground river, with stalagtites scraping your scalp and stalagmites skinning your knees.  Pitch black.  Better have a waterproof flashlight and cyalume backup.  Or three.

Here is pic of what you can expect:

I'm not really a caver but I've been to carlsbad a few times.
