My mom talked about riding around Hawaii during the 40's in her dad's car, it had a rumble seat. Does the rear facing seat in a station wagon count? I loved sitting back there flipping people off. |

| I remember riding in a rumble seat with one of my cousins but I can't remember exactly whose car it was or what make or model. It was probably my great uncles car, he had several old models. Good chance it was a Ford Victoria from the 1930's based on pictures I've seen. |

Yes. Back in the late 70's as a young kid. My dad was infatuated withwith Model A's. He found one in a farmer's field with a tree growing through it. Restored it to like new condition. He won several awards for it. My only memories of it are riding in the rumble seat and getting ice cream. |

Last rumble seat I saw (didn't sit in it, as I couldn't fit), I couldn't help but notice the front edge of the opening was just bare metal. And no seatbelt. I guess the cars didn't have brakes capable of making quick stops, but can you imagine the carnage after even a fairly low speed collision? |

As a kid, I always thought it would be cool to take the hood off a 911 and have a “nose gunner” seat up front. Closest to a rumble seat I ever got was the rear facing seats in various wagons or riding in the hatch area of a number of hatchbacks (or occasionally the bed of a truck). |

Yeah, in the '50s. One of our HS coaches had restored a late '30s Ford and painted "Shake, Rattle & Roll" in script across the back. It may have also had a flathead V8 in it. One cool car for one cool dude. I've also driven a Model T. It requires some fancy foot and throttle lever coordination. |

In the 80s the owner of the company I worked for ran several vintage cars in the Great American Race (now it's called the Great Race, I guess), and everyone got to ride in them before they were sent out for the race. Not comfortable, and you knew immediately why those seats got the same they have. |
| Of course, my uncle owned a couple of old Fords when I was a kid. Absolute PITA to get in and out of, even as a kid, as you had to be really careful not to scratch the paint (show cars). Not very comfortable, even as a kid, and definitely not safe. The 70s were cool though. |
| I learned to drive on my dad's 1930 Model A. He loves that thing and he'd happily drive us around town until the snow flew. My brother and I would be in the rumble seat freezing our asses off. It's mildly embarrassing the rest of the year |

| There used to be a clothing designer called Mr. Blackwell who once stated that if the singer whose name was Charo was an automobile she would have a rumble seat with a pushed out front . that apparently made Charo pretty pissed off and she said something to the effect of with my accent people might mistake me when I say that he thinks he’s a big shot |
