If all are from the same program you can:

quit the program  - cmd-q

select one window, hold down option key and click the red button in the upper left of the window

cmd-w closes a tab in a browser or a window of a program.

RTFM

A well placed .45 round should take care of the problem.

They are highly intuitive, you don't have to figure anything out.

Thanks Guys, I got it the help desk saved the day plus they spoke English. I'm liking this thing.

Are you trolling or can you really not figure out how to close the windows you have open?  There are even more ways to achieve that simply than there are with windows, including the standard exit, minimize, and maximize buttons found in virtually all modern GUI's.

To actually quit running and really close whichever program you are running you need to "quit" it by selecting the program name in the upper left corner and selecting quit.

Another useful thing to put in your dock is the Activity Monitor, which will show you how much memory each application / program is using.  You can force quit any application using the Activity Monitor as well.

That is nice.  At work I have to deal with Dell, and the sales group we deal with speaks Spanish and the tech guys are Indian.  Both groups barely speak English.  Getting an RMA from Apple is about a tenth of the effort as compared to the fight with Dell.  Apple is still a pain to deal with, but at least they understand what you're saying.z
