Since everyone else is asking about background questions....

I'm filling out my app and it's asking about traffic tickets.  It's an online form and only has spots for 4 tickets, so I pick the most recent ones.  The last one was maybe 8 years ago and the others are like from 10-12 years ago.  How critical is it that I remember the dates?

There are some that I can't even be sure which year they occured....:(

I know, be as complete and honest as possible.  I just can't remember when these things happened ... so long ago.

Can or will my local pd run my 10-27 to get that information for me?

Tell your recruiter.   They will run your 27 but not for you.

If you can't remember just say you can't remember. It's not that big of a deal. They are looking for a pattern of bad driving not the occasional slip. Just be honest about it and you should have no problems. If they're too anal about every little detail work elsewhere, it will only get worse.

they are just traffic citations, so it isnt a big deal ecspecially if the last one was 8 years ago.  But dont worry the person doing your background will do a 27 anyways.  just put the ones on the app that are the most recent and as close as you can get on the dates, and if and when they ask you about them just tell them you werent exactly sure on the dates

What if I have nada on my driving record for the whole life of me driving? Does that mean I am a stupid nerd or something?

I have one of those. They didn't believe me.
It was another one of those deals where being an angel ends up getting that spotlight focused in on you even harder. That was my experience anyway.

Best advice I have heard in a long time.

You wouldn't per chance be a union rep?

You can go by your local Clerk of Court office and have them run the license check for you.

.....Which reminds me of the Patrol Car I trashed last year.....

Accidents happen.

Like the fine fellow said above, they tend to look for patterns.

Good luck.
