My Insurance company has decided that they need appraisals for my guns in order to insure them (for replacement value) seperately as riders on my home owners policy. I have a $10,000 sporting goods add on but it doesnt cover the guns themselves but does (supposedly) cover optics, accessories, ammo so I am a bit under insured there but....
How the hell am I supposed to get appraisals on anything but my fudd guns that are basically as they left the factory? They said receipts would suffice but I have been collecting for years and trading for just as long. Most of the gun shops here barely know which end the bullet comes out, does anyone honestly think they could accurately assess the value of fully customized black rifles

Suggestions?

Get a gun shop to write up an estimate for you.  An FFL could probably do it as well.  Augment with commercial pricing for same/similar firearm from any sale site.
