Overlooked incompatibility, mood or personality disorders, differing levels of emotional maturity, etc. Getting one thing right isn't going to win the day with respect to a long-term, intimate relationship. Way back when, I knew a guy obsessed with Princess Jasmine from Aladdin, which we all thought was creepy. I believe he was also into hentai, which strangely seems less creepy than being attracted to Princess Jasmine... I love what CGI has done for the video game industry, creating some very realistic and life-like NPCs to interact with. I remember the obsession many had with Lara Croft, but I was more impressed by NPCs like Alyx in Halflife 2. The problem is that things may be too realistic now, as shown by some of the photos in this thread. We've already seen what Deep Fakes can do, and how prolific Willem Defoe is... I would almost prefer for everything to remain in uncanny valley territory, like Alita: Battle Angel. I'd rather know that fakes are fake, and feel the same way about robots and AI. If it's too realistic, how could you ever know what is truly real? |
