[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Area 51 (Page 1 of 2)

The way I see it, the .gov may be powerful, but they're not stupid. They only post signs warning of the authorization of deadly force around seriously sensitive places, such as nuclear facilities. (Does NORAD have that?) Too risky and question-raising otherwise. So, the way I figure, if they've got Area 51 bottled up like that, then there's something in there we're better off not knowing about, either from a national defense standpoint or a societal standpoint (can you imagine the impact of an alien verification on a world as paranoid as ours?) I think it's strictly a base with some UNBELIEVABLE aircraft technology ot it! That's all. |
|
Well, they used to test stealth aircraft there. It was of strategic advantage that our enemies not know of this new type of aircraft for as long as possible. That's why they had guards instructed to shoot to kill. When a B-2 is sitting at an airbase, there is an imaginary line (in some cases, not imaginary) surrounding it. If you are foolish enough to cross it, you WILL get shot. So, my guess is that they are working on even more secret aircraft. |
Damn, it doesn't take much to get the denizens stirred up around here ![]() Got beat to it

www.dreamlandresort.com They have a discussion forum and the owner of that site is a member here. I have been to the front gate of Area 51 and I'll post pics in a bit. ETA...the pic you posted doesn't show the runways. |
the actual front GATE? Or the front BORDER? I did the Area 51 trip a couple of years ago, went to the front border, and to the back gate. Pretty interesting when the guards rush up to come greet you |
I think "she" used to be a "he"... |
I call it the front gate...the one off of Groom Lake Road, where you can't see the guard shack and the Camo Dudes are up on the hill just about 24/7. |
So where are those photos already? |
From what I've heard there is not much left there other than an air base. All the really secret stuff has been moved to the White Sands Missile Range Utah Launch Complex. www.popularmechanics.com/science/military/1997/6/new_area_51/ |

Is there more there than just an air base? Of course there is. After the last 50 years when no airman 2nd class who pulled guard and had a bug up his ass about someting and then went crying to the New York Times, we can assume all the stories are true. Please... Spare me. |

Nice pics of "No picture" signs. |
Did you ever have any trouble with the camo dudes? I've heard they will not hesistate to make someone get out their vehicle and question them (and being EG&G security, I would NOT want to fuck with them!). Those camo dudes might look like easy-going peeping toms in their pick-ups... but they got a lot of authority in them thar parts. I've also heard that black Blackhawks with fake FAA registry #s fly over "intruder" vehicles also, hovering low the ground and flying around anyone that's too close to the base perimiter in their eyes. |
Alot of people are afraid of them but when your on BLM public land you can tell them to pound sand, fuck themselves or whatever and there is NOTHING they can do...they generally stay away from tourists now. Before the base was really discovered by Glenn Campbell in the late 80's and early 90's they were alot more bold. The signs were at one time on public land, until someone figured it out...then they moved them. Edit to add...if you get out of your vehicle and walk out of sight of the Camo's you probably will get a good dusting by a helo, even now....it's just their way of telling you they don't want you to cross the border and to go back to your car. |

As the Official United Nations Representative to the Reptoid Triumverate, I must inform you all that there are NO aliens at Areal 51. The Reptoids moved to Dulce, NM about 3 months ago. Their hay-fever was acting up at Area 51. Please send all Get Well cards to: c/o Super Secret Ninja Squirrel Somewhere Under Dulce, NM 007 |
I agree, the Inn is just a few trailers that share a bathroom, stay in the town of Alamo which is about 40 miles closer to Vegas, they have a few decent motels. The Inn does have decent food though. |
|
While I can't say FOR SURE this was there, the unveiling of this corresponded with a brief lull in restrictions around "the container"...you do the math, |
|
The airstrip at Groom Lake is the LONGEST in the entire world. Of couse they are sill using it. What for? My guess: a two stage orbtal recon system consisting of a high speed carrier aircraft and a small, possibly unmanned, vehicle capable of extra-atmospheric operations. |

thats a big pic
