Skin cancer runs in the family on both sides. Fortunately, they've all been caught early enough. But that history combined with a western European/Scandinavian bloodline, means I go to the derm at least once a year for check ups. At my last appointment, my derm of 20+ years suggested I get a nevus sebaceous removed from my right cheek. I had the surgery today in a plastic surgeon's office. I've had lots of moles removed, and while they are all slightly sore for a day or two, this one hurts like an SOB. It feels like I took a fastball to the face. The site is still covered, but prior to excision, I would estimate that it was roughly 14x7 mm. I know he was going to take a bit of margin. I forgot to ask how deep he went. Is facial surgery generally more painful? |
