Between buying an AK-74, here,or finishing my T48 FAL clone I just sent the money order out for a custom H&R marked enterprise receiver, and I've got most of the unique parts I'll need to build it. However, I'm getting some project fatigue on the FAL, and kinda bummed as I don't have the tools/knowledge to do all the work on it like I would a Garand or AR, and it will be a long ass time before it comes to fruition.
To put it in another perspective, cost wise, I've got about $700 in the FAL so far, and would be looking at at least another $700 to get it finished, probably sometime next year. The AK would be sub $400 delivered to my FFL with his fee, then AIM has cheap ammo and mags, and I've got a coupon and credit at midway for an arsenal od stock set that basically make it free. I'm kinda wanting to sell the FAL kit, then buy the AK and a shit ton of ammo and mags. The FAL would be really really cool, and kind of one of a kind. Plus, as of right now, the only 30 cal rifle I have is my Krag.
