For the last few weeks or so I've literally been seeing double.  My vision is as sharp as ever (at least 20/20), but there is a double image that hangs just above the main image.  It is exactly the same for both eyes.  It is very dim, and usually unnoticable, unless there is a sharp contrast in shade - like white lettering on a black background.  If I watch TV with captions on (white captions on a black background), the double image is about half the height of the lettering above the captions (as in, half of the double image captions are still inside the main image captions, not that the double image captions are completely above the main image captions.)  If I squint the double image becomes so blurry and spread out that it practically disappears, making my vision almost how it used to be again.

Anyone know what the heck is going on?

But this is very minor.  Like I said, unnoticable unless there is a very sharp contrast.  It can't be that serious, can it?

Just because it is minor now doesn't mean that it won't get worse.  It could also be a symptom of a more serious problem, then again it could be nothing.  Do you want to risk it?  Go see a doc.

Probably the most common cause of persistent diplopia is a mass of some kind in the brain....as the mass gets larger it
puts pressure on the optic nerve or the brain centers that interpret vision cues.
As it gets bigger the symptoms get worse.

GO TO THE DOCTOR NOW.

Time is your enemy in these cases.

Go see a doctor... There are a number of reasons that can casue diplopia in both eyes:

Cataracts

Diabetes

Neurologic disorders (stroke, alcoholism or anything that puts pressure on the optic nerve)

Too many to list.... Go see a doc...

Probably just something wrong in your brain.  I wouldn't worry too much.
