One doctor told me you can't use prednisone for more than a few days or it will shut down your adrenal glands and kill you, and you need to stay off it for a while before using it again. When I told another doctor what he said, she laughed.

Suppresses endogenous production of corticosteroids....generally you should be on some kind of a tapered dose. Say 30mg for 3 days, then 20mg, then 10, etc. Used to do it all the time when I was rotating through the ER in the Asthma room. |
