Does your department issue you a vest or do you have to buy your own? And what's your policy on wearing of said vests, is SOP make it mandatory to wear them while on duty or is it voluntary? |

Department issued. Must wear. Get a new one every 3-5 years. Different vendor each time. I've had some great fitting comfy vests and some horrible fitting vests. Also have a couple personal ones I bought myself. ETA: Plate carrier is department issued too. Dont have to wear it just have to have it with me. |

It's a trick don't answer! Yes department issued. Per agency and local policy mandatory wear for general patrol. Optional for SAR or extended backcountry patrol. Hard armor is a gray area. The shop provides some bunk carriers but won't provide or acknowledge plates. This is good and bad. spf |
