| Hi, I was talking to a friend this weekend, and mentioned that I was nearing 20 guns in my collection, and he said oh you better watch out if you have more then 20 then you need to register yourself as an armory, and then pay some yearly tax... I said shananigans, and he said to look it up, so google turned up nothing, is my friend who has 3 guns full of it? |

There is no Federal law that limits how many guns or how much ammunition one can posess. Click here for links to Federal laws, ATF regulations, etc |

"if you have more then 20 then you need to register yourself as an armory..."
Perhaps your friend is confusing "armory" with the often repeated "arsenal," which is curiously missing as a definition in the AP Stylebook on news writing, but somehow we're all supposed to know what this word means from all of the context of its repeated use in "bad" gun stories. |

Judging from mainstream media, if you have more than one gun and more than 40 rounds of ammo, you have an arsenal. |
