Makes me want to hook my computer up the grenade launcher and shoot it about 100 yards into the river.

AKO is a dream compared to NMCI. Try being a Contractor on a Navy base, working for SOCOM and deploying with the Army and not being able to access any email account anyplace you go, including the company website being blocked, so no time card ![]() NMCI is a damn abortion, worst network in DoD.

And I thought you couldn't have it worse than having to use the USAF's version of Windows Vista, on the USAF's we-block-almost-everything network.
Don't get me started on having Vista shoved down our throats. The Web nannying is an inexhaustible topic by itself. Example: Some time in the last few months, they started blocking the electronic card catalog of the base library. The same base library we're supposed to check with before buying technical pubs on our own. Nice, huh? Not only have there been problems with our contractors not being able to access their time card website, they can't get to their company email. At. All. On the base network, period. Our office IT people spend at least 50% of their time trying to fix problems caused by the AF's own policies. No joke. |

They have idiots driving Network Security that know absolutely nothing about IT security, they aren't even Comm people. They are Physical Security types. That is why there was a huge over reaction to flashdrives some months ago, they won't let flash drives touch the network but you can plug a USB external Hard drive to the network. (shakes fucking head). The Air Force Vista image is a POS also the Group Policy that is pushed at start up is a joke. I have seen it take 45 minutes for users to log on, now multiply that over a thousands of users in the morning, that is a whole lot of man hours wasted waiting just to log on. |
