Well as I sit here with less than 2 semesters left of my college career I have been debating what to do with my life come graduation. Initially I was convinced I was going to law school. I came to college having no idea what I wanted to major in or do in life. It wasn't until the end of sophomore year that I decided Politcal Science was going to be my major. I took the LSATS over the summer and visted Vermont Law School in October and liked it a lot up there. I have been going back and forth about whether I should attend law school or not immediately after college. I know it is something that I think I would enjoy doing, however, I am unsure if now is the correct time to pursue it. While thinking about the job market I decided that there was no way I would get a good job that had benefits with a BA in Political Science.
Thus the idea to join the military pops into my head. I had sort of always wanted to do it. My grandfather and cousin were both in the Navy and my cousin just recently got out (he had enlisted). I have not spoken to a recruiter yet, I guess that is something I should do to get more information about the whole thing. From what I understand from the research I have done is that OCS requires a 3 year commitment. I want to find out whether that commitment is subject to change or not. I guess if anyone has experience with Army OCS and could tell me about it I would appreciate it in attempting to make a decision about my future. Also I wanted to know if I were to go to OCS is it possible to attend Airbourne and then Ranger School? I know that is a bit ahead of the game but that is the path I'd like to go if I'm gonna do it. Granted I'm scared to death about jumping out of a fucking plane but I guess the best way to deal with fear is to confront it. Thanks in advance to anyone who has helpful information or suggestions. |
