OK, I posted about this earlier this AM......thought the relevance to
SF was implied. But since I was at work and using my Blackberry I didn't elaborate on it's relevance. My apologies in advance if this is not the proper protocol to post this again. Anyway, I was wondering how this would effect your plans? For example, I was going to sell a rifle at a gun show this weekend, but now I'm having second thoughts. Any weapon on this list will most likely go up exponentially in price. My plan was to use some of the funds from the sale to purchase NV. Now I'm thinking it might be wise to wait to see how buyers will react to this news. Perhaps I could sell later and use the proceeds to completely fund my NV purchase. Assault Weapon Ban II Your thoughts? How will this effect your preps? It should be a sellers market, those who are lopsided in the weapons department could use this to round out their preps before inflation makes the $ worth a lot less. |

i'm well prepped at the moment. i would suggest to all that didn't live through the first ban....buy what you want now and don't wait. if you find a pistol or rifle you want also factor in the cost of accessorizing it for life. having a pistol or rifle with 20 mags may sound like a bit much, but when you can't get mags or they go up 10X in price, you'll wish you bought while you had the chance.
currently, as much as i love guns like the 1911 i won't purchase any firearm that isn't high capacity capable. glock and springfield armory are at the top of my list. again, any purchases will include a lifetime supply of mags. |

Sounds like a good reason for shutting down the border. The Mexicans never check what comes in anyway. I have crossed over hundreds of times, never checked, not once. This is just a ploy, I refuse to give up my weapons for the sake of the corrupt BS of Mexico. They asked for this, it's their problem and they are blaming it on us. Everything is always "our fault". |

The whole Mexico thing is just a covenient excuse to do what they have wanted since the AWB expired. Exactly. It's amazing some can't figure this out. Wait until the next gun related tragedy and watch out rights fly out the window. That's what they are waiting for. The Mex thing is just to get the ball rolling and condition the sheeple. We haven't seen anything yet. |
| My response about the mexican crap is this: DO they REALLY think that the mexicans are getting their FULLY AUTOMATIC firearms LEGALLY in the United States? NO! They are a drug cartel...you REALLY think that they are going to obey the law that you make (AWB)? DUH! |

It's not about controlling the crimimal element, it's about controlling us and consolidating their power. These people have no respect for the constitution/bill of rights. |

So the new AG says the AWB II will make it safer for Mexico and will reduce the flow of weapons from the U.S. into Mexico. From the story mentioned above we see the State Department has this nailed: A State Department travel warning issued Feb. 20, 2009, reflected government concerns about the violence. "Some recent Mexican army and police confrontations with drug cartels have resembled small-unit combat, with cartels employing automatic weapons and grenades," the warning said. "Large firefights have taken place in many towns and cities across Mexico, but most recently in northern Mexico, including Tijuana, Chihuahua City and Ciudad Juarez." Now let me ask each of you when was the last time you went to your favorite gun dealer and picked up a case of Grenades or a half a dozen Automatic Weapons? Don't you think with the money the cartels must have they could go somewhere else and buy boatloads of weapons easier and cheaper than here? Our DHS trains the Mexican Police. They, in turn, get a whiff of the money to be made on the other side of the fence. So they go to work for the cartels and the cartels hire them to run their security. When you don't want to do something, any excuse is better than none and besides some of this country's citizens will believe this bull shit. |

This looks like the Democrats better reign in their loose cannons on gun control. It even alluded to this in the article. I suppose that Barrack Obama must be disatisfied that his attempt to nationalize the financial and health care industries. He will go after one of the liberal most favorite whipping boys guns and gun control. I cerntainly pray and hope that this administration does not do any permanent damage to America in particular the citizens right and ability to afford arms to keep and bare.
We all know how to reward this congress when this happens in 2010. They will loose their job security in Washington quicker than .223 flies off of the shelves at Walmart. |

Yeah I bought 2 nice and complete $600ish uppers early today for $800. Felt like I made a steal. The guy just took delivery of them after a 4 month wait and flipped them because he lost his job.
Another 20 mags ordered (probably wait 6 weeks for them) and a bunch of extra spare parts ordered after reading another thread. I have all parts for one build (need to get busy) and now need another stripped lower to go with the second unintended purchase of an additional upper. |

What I got today from the VCDL , long read for here especially for a topic that is hit more then a 2 cent hooker.
More federal gun stuff :-( In trying to head off what will surely be a ton of emails from people concerned about the statement in the news (below) from the U.S. Attorney General that the Obama Administration wants to reinstate the Assault Weapon Ban (AWB), let me address the issue. Before I could get this email out, the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, beat me to the punch (also below). The President can desire to do something like reinstate the AWB all he wants, but he can't do so without Congress passing a bill to that effect and getting it to the President's desk. That is a huge BUT. When the first AWB was passed in 1993 we had a Democratic President, a Democratic House, and a Democratic Senate. The next election following the passage of the AWB, we had a Democratic President, a Republican House, and a Republican Senate. The Democrats could not get either the House or the Senate back for over a decade. Gun owners are now MUCH more organized than we were back in 1993. A lot of gun groups, like VCDL, didn't even exist back then. And the Internet was not being used by the gun-rights movement to disseminate information and to coordinate efforts. Nancy Pelosi is running away from passing an AWB, saying that all we need to do is enforce current law. There is always a danger that an AWB could be passed down the road, but for now, VCDL and the various national gun rights organizations will remain watchful. VCDL will continue to focus on Virginia issues as its priority unless national issues overcome us. –– Obama wanting the AWB (with a comment from me): http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=6960824&page=1 Obama to Seek New Assault Weapons BanPrevious Ban Expired in 2004 During the Bush AdministrationBy JASON RYAN WASHINGTON, Feb. 25, 2009— The Obama administration will seek to reinstate the assault weapons ban that expired in 2004 during the Bush administration, Attorney General Eric Holder said today. "As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons," Holder told reporters. Holder said that putting the ban back in place would not only be a positive move by the United States, it would help cut down on the flow of guns going across the border into Mexico, which is struggling with heavy violence among drug cartels along the border. [PVC: I am NOT giving up my right to own a Homeland Defense Rifle because the incredibly corrupt government of Mexico can't get its act together!] "I think that will have a positive impact in Mexico, at a minimum." Holder said at a news conference on the arrest of more than 700 people in a drug enforcement crackdown on Mexican drug cartels operating in the U.S. Mexican government officials have complained that the availability of sophisticated guns from the United States have emboldened drug traffickers to fight over access routes into the U.S. A State Department travel warning issued Feb. 20, 2009, reflected government concerns about the violence. "Some recent Mexican army and police confrontations with drug cartels have resembled small-unit combat, with cartels employing automatic weapons and grenades," the warning said. "Large firefights have taken place in many towns and cities across Mexico, but most recently in northern Mexico, including Tijuana, Chihuahua City and Ciudad Juarez." At the news conference today, Holder described his discussions with his Mexican counterpart about the recent spike in violence. "I met yesterday with Attorney General Medina Mora of Mexico, and we discussed the unprecedented levels of violence his country is facing because of their enforcement efforts," he said. Holder declined to offer any time frame for the reimplementation of the assault weapons ban, however. "It's something, as I said, that the president talked about during the campaign," he said. "There are obviously a number of things that are –– that have been taking up a substantial amount of his time, and so, I'm not sure exactly what the sequencing will be." In a brief interview with ABC News, Wayne LaPierre, president of the National Rifle Association, said, "I think there are a lot of Democrats on Capitol Hill cringing at Eric Holder's comments right now." During his confirmation hearing, Holder told the Senate Judiciary Committee about other gun control measures the Obama administration may consider. "I think closing the gun show loophole, the banning of cop-killer bullets and I also think that making the assault weapons ban permanent, would be something that would be permitted under Heller," Holder said, referring to the Supreme Court ruling in Washington, D.C. v. Heller, which asserted the Second Amendment as an individual's right to own a weapon. The Assault Weapons Ban signed into law by President Clinton in 1994 banned 19 types of semi-automatic military-style guns and ammunition clips with more than 10 rounds. "A semi-automatic is a quintessential self-defense firearm owned by American citizens in this country," LaPierre said. "I think it is clearly covered under Heller and it's clearly, I think, protected by the Constitution." –– Nancy Pelosi running away from the AWB: http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/pelosi-tosses-cold-water-on-reviving-assault-weapon-ban-2009-02-26.html http://tinyurl.com/bxglgs Pelosi throws cold water on weapons banBy Mike SoraghanPosted: 02/26/09 11:59 AM [ET] House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tossed cold water on the prospect of reinstating the assault weapons ban, highlighting Democrats’ reluctance to take on gun issues. Attorney General Eric Holder raised the prospect Wednesday that the administration would push to bring back the ban. But Pelosi (D-Calif.) indicated on Thursday that he never talked to her. The Speaker gave a flat “no” when asked if she had talked to administration officials about the ban. “On that score, I think we need to enforce the laws we have right now,” Pelosi said at her weekly news conference. “I think it's clear the Bush administration didn’t do that.” Outside of the dig at the recent Republican president, that phrase is the stock line of those who don’t want to pass new gun control laws, such as the National Rifle Association. The White House declined to comment on Holder's remarks, referring reporters to the Department of Justice. The DoJ did not respond to The Hill's request for comment. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––-***************************************************************************VA-ALERT is a project of the Virginia Citizens Defense League, Inc.(VCDL). To the specific question asked by the OP:
If you believe that an AW ban is truly on the horizon - why would you sell a restricted firearm to get NV - which AFAIK isn't being discussed in any ban? Why not keep the firearm and save for the NV? Selling something you believe you won't be able to replace - in order to get something you can get anytime seems illogical to me. |
| That Holder is a REAL PIECE OF SHIT. To him, a foreign country's security is MORE important than our Constitutional rights. Of course, it NEVER was about our Constitutional rights with this faggot. He is just an opportunist trying to use Mexico's crises to advance his bullshit ideas. |

I think Holder got impatient...couldn't wait for an school shooting or bank robbery with a EBR to take place so he's reaching with the Mexican thing.
Scarey that Libtards will nod in agreement. Why don't we ban weapons here to keep them out of terrorist hands in the Middle East? Seems like a good idea. I mean, it could happen. Yeah, lets ban guns in the whole world...that'll do the trick. I'll give up the 2nd if Holder and BHO give up the 13th...any takers? |
it really doesnt matter which liberalshit pollocktician said what!! what matters is that MR B.O. has only been president for a month and a half and his fucking loser appointments are already talking about reinacting the AWB!!! for those who do not think its coming back you're just kidding yourselves!! there are more nutty liberals in office now than there ever was when dumbass clinton passed the awb of 1994!! food for thought.

It's time to start cranking out letters to the editors. I'm not talking about emails. Those are deleted by flunkies as fast as they come in. I'm talking 8.5x11 paper neatly typed, not handwritten, in legal size envelopes.
Here's the way we work this... "Holder and Obama want to disarm the citizens of the US so that the Mexican drug cartels can invade the southwest. Obama even admits to being a drug user, so it's no wonder he's on the criminal side. "If Obama and Holder get their way, Texans will be unable to defend against Mexican drug lords who obtain military armament from the Mexican Army." "Obama and Holder want the violence and crime in Mexico to come here, where they will have prepared the way by disarming American citizens. They are destroying the US economically and with drugs." Cram this down their throats. Make them choke on it. |
