Regular informal seafood is Long John Silvers...x100

Was given a gift card for R/L for Christmas.

I've had nothing but poor experiences there .  guess I'll just tell the SO to take one of her friends there for lunch.

Nope ordered a Samuel Adams and the bartender hasn't brought it been 20 minutes; if that's the case for everyone I doubt there will be any drunken brawls.

Funny story about Red Lobster.....   I am born and raised in Florida, right on the Gulf coast, so I know what good seafood is.

While spending some time in Illinois, some of the local folks that I was working with would just rave about the Red Lobster they had in town.  Needless to say I know better but I didn't want to rock the boat so I just let them go ahead and think that what they were eating was good stuff.

Anyway, it was funny to me.  I guess you had to be there.

You're in a dry county, they just share menus with the next RL over the county line.  And Sam Adams is a damn Yankee so you ain't even gonna get one of the hidden shelves.

Only if a family is low-class.  There is no fine dining seafood in KS unless it's a weekly or monthly special by a nice restaurant.

What the fuck is fine dining seafood anyway?  It's fucking fish.  Not steak, not prime rib, not moist fucking chicken.  You take it out when it's done and you eat it. It's best deepfat fried for fucks sake. What do you expect a seafood place to be like,  a raw shithole sushi place infested with e coli?

Bunch of typical GD hate for any restaurant that isn't 5 star $100 plates, or some obscure place nobody has heard about to prevent ridicule. Wife and I just used gift cards we had. I thought it was fine. Not fantastic. Not shitty. I didn't die.

Some of the same people that bitch about outback, or red lobster probably go nuts for a McRib, or White Castle sliders

It's not bad but there is definitely better sea food options closer to the coast.

I think I would rather buy my own from the grocery store

I always thought they were from Maine or something.
Turns out they started right here in Lakeland FL.

The idea was to bring seafood to places that normally would not have a seafood joint (not being on the coast n all)

Red Lobster varies greatly by location, The one near my house is always mobbed due to no competition in the seafood restaurant business

Yes it does, the one nearby (Poughkeepsie NY) actually had a dead lobster floating in the tank one time when we went in 1990 or so.
We walked right out the door, place closed not long after that.
Another location here in CT was awesome.
