| Hello guys, I'm in search of a simple dash cam for my truck. I'm not looking for anything flashy with a ton of bells and whistles, just something that will do the job with a removable memory card. Anything come to mind guys? |

I'm glad it worked for you. My experience is that it's a piece of low grade junk, and I couldn't recommend it. |

I just ordered 2 for $39 each. They're supposed to be the same as the one that recorded the intersection collision with the CBP van in NY where the CBP swore up and down the guy went through the red, but the very clear video put the lie to that. I don't think it's the same camera, but I can't go too wrong for that amount. I figure if it's too nice they'll just hijack your car, or break in a steal it if you leave it where it can been seen.
The cameras haven't come yet, but I'll post an update when I have had a chance to evaluate them. I don't even remember the brand, but there was a TV ad for them with a website. Details later. |

That might even be wishful thinking. Theres plenty good models but they are too expensive for the average consumer still. The low price stuff is mostly junk. When you need the video its not there or corrupt. Ive gone thorough about $250 and several models and I still have no working cam. |

I wanted one for a while, but didn't want to spend a whole bunch.
I found this one dash cam on Amazon. I paid 15 dollars and change plus another 20 bucks for a card. I've used it 5 days a week, for 6 to 16 hours a day, for about two months.. I've been fairly impressed with it's daytime video. Night video, not so much. I figured for 15 bucks, it was worth a shot. If it doesn't last long, no biggie. I have it mounted right by the rear view mirror. It doesn't catch the corners of the vehicle, but it takes good forward video. |

DashCamTalk has a lot of very useful reviews.
One handy (but not particularly common) feature to look for is Parking Mode, which allows the camera to operate even when the car is parked, recording any motion in front of the camera. This can be invaluable in catching car thieves and vandals, or could record a crime while your car is parked outside your home or office. |
