OK - I'll say it. Global Warming????? ![]() Of course. Everything is caused by global warming. Stubbed my toe the other day. If not for those greenhouse gasses fogging up my vision, I would have seen whatever I kicked. |

If it was such a huge attraction and a national treasure, I'm a little surprised more effort wasn't taken to save it. Maybe some engineers could have reinforced the thing with some rebar through it and some poured concrete underneath it.
Doesn't look like they tried to do shit, except wait for it to inevitably collapse |

thanks for posting this |

Check out the rocks falling when this guy dives
![]() Cliff Jump in Malta 92 feet ! (last person to jump from the great azure window) |

Looks like the arch was coming apart relatively rapidly, that big pillar probably hasn't been stable without it for a long time and the force it was applying on the arch finally snapped it and sent both tumbling. Good thing nobody was standing on it: https://3a09223b3cd53870eeaa-7f75e5eb51943043279413a54aaa858a.ssl.cf3.rackcdn.com/local_01_0_temp-1374211569-51e8cdf1-360x251.jpg http://www.greatbigscaryworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Azure-Window-Before-And-After-Collapse-770x433.jpg Thanks for posting the comparison. Thing has eroded relatively fast. |

2013 geotechnical report that says the arch is fine in the short term: Link
Describes the formation of the arch, where the major cracks are and so on. Recommended against installing anchor bolts. Also was wisely vague about the definition of "short term". |

Is there a picture of it from the other side at low tide? Seems it wasn't in that deep of water on the frequently photographed side. Hard for a thing that large to just vanish. What'd Trump do now? This could have been nothing short of an advanced weapons test on an ally.

OK - I'll say it. Global Warming????? ![]() Nah, they're blaming humans walking on the top of it for accelerating the erosion occurring undersea. One of the more retarded things I've read this week. But, I work in the public, and it's just Thursday, so I'm sure something stupider will come along at any moment. |

What about the few Natural stone piles that hippies have toppled for fun? I remember that being in the news 2 different times. Mt. Rushmore I can see putting money into, but New Hampshire let their Old Man fall too. |
