I picked up season one of B5 over the weekend.

What a great show - I hadn't seen it since the series completed its airing.

Now I have to get the other four seasons and the movie set!

Babylon 5 is great.  Seasons 2, 3 and 4 are the best.  Season 5 is anti-climactic.

Not enough space fights in Season 1. That's all I know.

Awesome old show! Beats Space: Above and Beyond, hands down!

great show,

i thought the acting and some of the plots were weak in the first year, but it all leads up to some great episodes later,

never understood the fascination with space above and whatever, i thought it was terrible

Well in Space: Above and Beyond I enjoyed the fact that everyone died in the end, thus preventing another season of it

I also agree that B5's first season was pretty slow, but it greatly improved once Boxleitner showed up.

One of the better points of B5 I think is that unlike all the other sci-fi shows out there (the Star Treks, Andromeda, Space: Aand B, etc..) where humans/earthlings are protrayed as the saviours of the galaxy, running around and helping people..  In Babylon 5 humans are generally the assholes of the galaxy running around stirring up shit wherever they go.  Much more believable methinks..

Also the part about us jumping into things that are "above our paygrade" so to speak, then giving the higherups the finger.  Love that shit.

Vir:  "... and I'm going to wave at you, just like this (wiggles fingers)"  I love that part!
