Waiting until I have a wire done and all of my accounts with boa are done. Local branch is a joke and service has become crap. Switched to a local credit union and have been happy ever since.

How is it BOA's fault that you bought merchandise from a shitty merchant?

Do they have a policy to refund charges when you can't prove you never received the items?

ETA:  If it was an identity theft thing, that's different, but if you willingly purchased from the merchant do they have a policy to refund the charges?  I'm actually curious, not trying to be a dick.

well it is fraudulent, and i thought therefore it was considered credit card fraud

but no, the way i see it as theft, when someone takes your money and a guaranteed service or product isnt granted

well their retort was that it was a matter that had to be taken up with the merchant

so now i am back to square 1

I fucking hate BOA. I will never do business with them ever again. The only reason I'm doing business with them now is because the cock suckers bought my mortgage from Sun Trust.

Can I ask which merchant?  I think I'd like to avoid them.  Unless you were buying fleshlights in bulk, that I don't need to know.

They bought mine too, and tried to fuck me over with having to purchase additional insurance because they are to ignorant to understand the policy I have.  I've got no love for them bastards.

I'm in the middle of something similar with Chase because of peterscustomholsters.com.  I have e-mails promising a refund from the merchant.  I wish you luck.  Merchant seems like good guys, just very very disorganized.

That's not how chargebacks work.  Do some reading.

Credit cards exist partially as a mechanism to protect individuals against sales fraud.  The whole point of a chargeback is it allows the card holder to be shielded from fraud and theft.  The banks accept that liability when issuing cards.

Why is it GD always assumes the individual is a worthless, pathetic loser that gets everything coming to them, but a giant transnational bank with a horrible history of abuse and corruption gets the benefit of the doubt?  That's some seriously sociopathic hate shit.

I believe most credit cards have a time limit in which you have to report/dispute a charge. I'm pretty sure 6 months is a little late to dispute something, regardless of which "bank" you have.   Not defending BOA..just saying.

You have 60 days from the point the charges appeared on your bill to dispute. Not 180 days... Not BOA's fault.

Look up the Fair Credit Billing Act and Regulation E.

To file a complaint or get free information on consumer issues, visit ftc.gov or call toll-free, 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357); That is if you really feel gyped.

There are hundreds if not thousands of laws dealing with banking regulations of every sort. In those you'll find Regulation E and you'll also find the Fair Credit Billing Act, both detailing the process the consumer must take and the biller. Chargebacks are NOT automatic, SOMEONE loses money and many times that's the card issuer.

The thousands of corporations, llcs, sole props, non-profs all run through a bank, they provide services to run those businesses including storage of money, ordering money, loans, lines of credit, payroll accounts, etc.

They provide consumers with many of the same things. They also provide more stability. There were 71 banks failed this year, the last one being last week. Those small banks are doing awesome aren't they?

I need to look it up myself, but I seem to recall that you have 60 days from when the false charges are discovered.  Is that the correct verbiage or am I misremembering things?  The diffference in this case is at what point in time it became apparent that the charges are false versus what time the charges were posted.

I honestly don't know, but that's what I remember the Act stating.

In any case, I will add +1 to the BoA sucks comments.  I'm a BoA customer only because they bought someone else.

Until it is seized for being insolvent and hopefully bought out otherwise you're SOL.

I ain't hating on your choice, it's a fine one. But you state you have no idea why... some of us travel and like the convenience of being able to go into a bank wherever we go.
