Any of you guys actually see one of these baby drop off boxes in the wild yet?

http://wncn.com/2016/05/02/first-baby-drop-off-box-for-unwanted-newborns-installed-in-indiana/

What happens if you trap, a raccoon or squirrel and throw it in?

It is all over LA County, at fire stations, police station, and any social welfare office.

They have those here in Florida. Fire, EMS, law enforcement. Take the kids there within a certain amount of time after birth..no questions asked.

Wasn't it like Missouri that did this (which is a good idea) but didn't stipulate an age in the law so people were trying to get rid of their teenagers?

Better idea than not having them, when kids were thrown in dumpster, or buried, or kept and abused because they weren't wanted.

I can't see anywhere where its technically a crime to put things other than babies in them.  Might have issues with wildlife laws though and have to use a feral cat instead.

Nebraska
http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/11/14/nebraska.safe.haven/index.html?_s=PM:US

Nebraska's safe haven law was intended to allow parents to hand over an infant anonymously to a hospital without being prosecuted. Of the 34 children
who have been dropped off at hospitals, officials said, not one has been
an infant.  All but six have been older than 10, according to a Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services analysis.

Lets make a video about a box that's three minutes long, has no close ups of said box and only shows it for a total of 15 seconds.

Legally you can dump your unwanted babies here. If anybody leaves me a baby I'm going to raise it in the station and teach it to do tricks and wash trucks. I've been told that I'm supposed to contact CPS but whatever, I do what I want.

I know of a case where a mother turned in a kid as set forth in the NY Penal Law. Well it says you aren't supposed to criminally prosecute them, but they still filed child neglect (not criminal) charges in Family Court.

You're right though. Giving them to a stable master to shovel horse shit all day would be better than some of the state homes I've seen. Beats a lot of foster homes too.

This dude dumped 9 and is now expecting twins
http://www.foxnews.com/story/2009/06/30/father-who-ditched-nine-kids-via-safe-haven-law-has-twins-on-way.html
Gary Staton, 37, became a single father in February 2007 when his wife, RebelJane, died of a cerebral aneurysm shortly after giving birth to the
couple's ninth child. Unable to handle the burden alone, Staton made
national news more than a year later on Sept. 24 when he dropped off his
children — ages 1 to 17 — at a hospital in Omaha. According to the law
at the time, parents could hand children up to age 18 over to state
custody without prosecution. Legislators would later amend the law to
limit its reach to infants up to 30 days old.

Kathie Osterman, a spokeswoman for Nebraska's Department of Health and Human Services, said the Staton family had received more than $995,000
in government aid as of last fall, including an estimated $600,000 in
food stamps and more than $100,000 in Medicaid.

They made the boxes small enough that you couldn't stuff your child in it after they were a few years old. That cut down on the number of fathers stuffing their teenage daughters into them.

The hospital where I work they drop them off in the ground floor restroom.

We have infant abduction prevention training. Someone always asks how many infants have been abducted here. The answer is none. We have never lost one but three have been dropped off. So. We are up three.

Are you guys keeping them around to swap out if an infant does get abducted

Seriously, infant abduction from hospitals is one of the dumbest things to worry about.  135 infants were abducted from hospitals from 1965 to 2017, its basically astronomically unlikely.
