AARGH....Went to the Neuro surgeon Wednesday for a small central disc protrusion and a small fissure in my annulus in the  L4/L5 disc, Once the Dr found out that i hurt myself at work he instantly changed from nice Dr to asshole and told me that my injury was not very impressive(medical Term) and said he was going to send me to a Pain Management Dr and that the Burning pain down both of my legs and the lower back shooting into my left leg could all be treated with medication????WTF...Anyhow i have always had a high tolerance for pain but this is unreal(makes me sweat)....From what i found out after the fact i guess alot of Dr's dont like working with workers Comp. I have been waiting since Wednesday for the other Dr's office to call me to set up an appointment, I called them and they said they would not do anything until they got an approval from workers comp.....I guess i will just have to sit in pain until they get all the bullshit worked out. The Vicoden does not even touch the Burning in my legs

BTDT.  Good luck.  Prepare for a battle with WC. They will screw with you at every turn.

I know it's not worth much, but I wish you luck. That's really disturbing to hear of how the doctor's attitude changed when you mentioned how you were injured: you wouldn't think that would have anything to do with it. It would be scary to see your doctor's attitude go from "mr. Nice Guy" to "Mr. Shitty." It shows a lack of objectivity and I would perceive that as potentially dangerous. That is, allowing emotions to interfere with bedside manner and diagnosis of a patient.

Yikes! Get an MRI and a lawyer.  Workman's comp always raises a red flag for insurance fraud.

Get physical therapy for your back and learn stretch excercises in the meantime to alleviate the pain.

I hope everything works out for ya

Yes me and my wife were both kinda shocked, The Dr walked out of the room after about 5 minutes with me yelled something at the nurse and was in the next room with paying customers i guess...All this after  i waited for 2 hours just to get into the office to see him as he was real busy, and i had more questions when he left than before he came in....I JUST WANNA GET RID OF THE PAIN.

I suffered a herniated disc in my lower back almost 20 years ago. Been living with it ever since. I was in the army at the time and the choices were therapy or surgery. I opted for therapy and have been managing it ever since.

I know enough about workman's comp claims to know that the doctor will have to fight to get paid and would much rather work on some one with some type of health insurance, even if it is an MHO.

I had an MRI, Took the results in with me, He said yeah you have a bulging disc and a small tear in your annulus. As if that means anything to me.....My question was what the hell can you do for me with this pain but obviously NOTHING!!!!!! 5 minutes and the charge was $375.00 which i didn't pay but i saw the invoice.

BTDT. Mine wasn't a workman's comp thing though. 3 surgeries and months of pain pills. Just had a disc fusion done mid-May, so I should be going back to work shortly.

Good luck.
