I have a 03 GMC Sierra. God truck and no major problems since I bought it. Nothing is perfect and I have been dealing with the lousy visibility when backing up. I am thinking of something to mount flush under the rear bumper, wired into the reverse lights. Something bright but low profile so I dont rip it off in the woods deer hunting. Any ideas? |

KC makes a universal light kit my father has GMC Yukon. put lights on rear bumper very bright work great. KC offroad Lights |
+1 I've seen the back-up lights for around $40. |

Just be sure you aren't violating you state laws about lighting! I looked into this some years ago while living in California, and found that (1) only certain colors could be shone from the rear end of a car, (2) back up lights MUST be white, and (3) Back up lights could not illuminate the roadway more than a certain distance (20 feet IIRC). Your laws are probably different, but I'm just sayin'.. don't give the man any PC. |
| Just get a cheap set of Fog lights from the parts store wire as instructed with the relay but change the switch wiring. Use a center off switch with the relay trigger on the center terminal, then the stock reverse output to one of the outer terminals and a +12V to the other. This setup gives you the options of auto on with the stock lamps, off, & on when you flip the switch |
