Well we are limited to 2 bags, a ruck, and a carry on... and no connexes going over Question... I know some units have been taking one of the big plastic truck-box style boxes as one of thier boxes, how many of you guys that went over did this or could have, or how restrictive were they on your gear getting on the planes? I know I can talk my way into getting mine on, simply because it ahs things I absolutley must have to do my job, but want to tell my guys if they can and, as usual, my COC above company level has no clue. |
We are taking personal gear, wapons, masks and that is it, we are falling in on another units equipment. I am not happy, but the good side is we will be truning that equipment over when we leave, so clearing will be easy with no vehicles to clear customs...but thats well down the road. |
And now you're picking up someone else's maintainance nightmare...AND they know it's SBE, so how hard are they really wrenching on thier stuff. Our Main't TM Chiefs have been really after their guy's when the standards started to slip on the SBE vehicles... Once here, I suggest you get the ordering process going ASAP, our Class II Exp&Dur, and Class9 Exp&Dur we initially ordered took well over 6 months to find us, and it's still dribbling in. Be nprepared to beg, borrow, and trade with other FOB's, ect. |
| Most of the unit went over with the Black Contico boxes. We had the choice of one of these or 2 duffel bags plus carry on. they hold about 3 duffel bags worth of shit and paletize easily. They are worth the $35 for them because they are lockable and durable. I dont think any broke on the way over like those little foot lockers did. |
Yeah...luckily I know the the maitenance warrants that I will be inheriting the stuff from, and I will inherit both thier stocks of CL IX and thier DODAC and supply chain, so we will step right into that supply stream that is already established. I have lists of what they have on hand and they are ordering what I think I will need once I arrive. |

Garand_Shooter, No Conex boxes? where are you mobing from. Reason I ask is I just got SRP'd and cross leveled from one RRC to another and will be going over as well. At this point I've only talked to the Maint personnel from my new unit and they/me are planning on taking a conex for our tools/ASL. They were also told that we will fall in on another units vehicles in country. We will mobe from Bragg, I sincerely hope that this isn't the norm. If so, how much advance notice did you receive so you can react/adjust accordingly. Hoplite, Where does one purchase the Black Contico boxes of which you speak, on Post? If the above is true, I will have to consider aquiring these as a contingency plan to transport the necessities for my "new" Maintenance section and our personnal gear. Wpns Man |

We are mobing from Bragg..... i just learned today that a few connexes are laid on for some SKO's and other items, but if there will be room for personal gear I do no know yet. IM me the unit you are coming to or email to me at my AKO timothy.glance you know the rest |
I grabed mine at home depot in Fayetteville. Lowes also had them. Both are on Skibo road. |

Thanks for the info guys, Garand_Shooter, with the info you just provided I may be alright ,as my new Maint NCO originally informed me that we would have extra room in the conex that's intended for our SKO and such for some of our personnal gear. I had intended to bring at least one footlocker anyway, but I have some contacts at Bragg that hopefully can get me the real scoop on the authorized load plan in time for us to react. I'll IM you my unit info. Hoplite, I'll go check out Lowe's and Home Depot on the boxes anyway. If we are allowed our conex it would be good to have of those dedicated for weapons BII, cleaning supplies and the repair parts that I'm going to make sure we take. Wpns Man |
