i work in the music and amusement industry.  it all depends on what kind of patronage the bar has.  i have bars that want nothing but country on the juke.  i also have bars that want nothing but rock.  you have to feel out the crowd and see what they want.  in ym buisness rap is virtually a dead music.  i have one bar that likes it but its very few patrons and they usually piss off the rest of the people when they start palying it.  My touch tunes revnue shows like less that 1% of plays is rap music.

Can't go wrong with "Merle haggard" and "Waylon Jennings" for  Bar tunes.

ETA: "Lefty Frizzell" Is a good one for Bar tunes also.

Go thought the top 50 songs of each year going back to 1970 or so.  Make a list.  Give to friend.
Jukebox is the way to go IMO.

Add in some Street Dogs and Flatfoot 56, among others, and you'll have a brawl in no time.

I made 2 disks, one was a hit, so that was 1/2 a fail.  I need more
to drink

Dubliners?

My taste in Irish music is more of the folksy, "we hate the english" variety, rather than "drinkanddrinkanddrinkanddrinkandfight!"....

If it's an Irish bar and you don't play Rory Gallagher, you are going to hell.

Any of these.

The McLads if you can find it, Dubliners, as well as Metallica's cover of Whiskey in a Jar. And, no matter where my friends and I go, if there is a Jukebox there, Freebird gets played at least once.
