I have no words for any of this.  I'm never using a spotter, that is for sure.

Ugh I hate it when that happens to me.  I go through like 4 bars a month.  Mostly from squats, but also Bench presses.  lol

Looks like the spotter got hit in the face or grazed with the broken bar? Ouch!

I don't use a towel, but I also don't squat near that much.  Does that help at all?

Helps pad the blow to your spotters head.

And I'm not really sure that guy squats that much.

His shorts provided too much Freedom, snapped the bar clean in twixt.

Anybody think that this is a product of poor bar quality, and not necessarily the weight? The bar wasn't really flexing all that much.

My guess is shitty bar. Any decent bar should be able to handle that weight.

So has anyone here had a guy in a pink shirt spot them on squats before in such a fashion?  Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I've never had anyone spot me in that fashion.

He seriously, looks like he's wants the squatter to do pole squats instead of box squats.  He's not even really in a position to help the lifter, despite the fact that I doubt his 135lb frame is going to pick him up.

It would be unnerving to have someone that close while squatting.

Dude is small but spotting like that is common. It lends a good assist if you tend to collapse forward.

Towel isn't for padding. It's usually for grip. Stupid, but can work if you don't chalk up before getting sweaty.

Yeah, remember the spotter isn't going to take all 600#....he only needs to cover enough so the lifter can stand up...maybe as little as 10# if the lifter stalls or starts to tip forward. In the case of a complete failure, I'm just going to dump the bar anyway. I have someone spot me like this on max attempts, though not quite that close to me.

Stress riser caused by transition between knurled grip are and smooth bar.

Repetitive stress concentrated in this area can encourage eventual failure.

Who knows how many times the bar has been abused.

And here is Rogue's response

Our barbells go through extensive testing by an independent metallurgical testing firm.

Thank you for the questions and please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.

Thanks,

Talor

Honestly I never had any buyers remorse. I've paid more for guns that I use less. I use my bar just about every day.

At our gym we have two sets of bars. One set is for the racks, the other- much nicer Rogue bars- can be used for anything except putting them on the racks.

I was told that if you put these Rogue bars on the racks, then it violates their lifetime warranty?

Is this true for other bars as well?

Our gym is filled with rogue beater bars.  They've had the shit beaten out of them, and I've only seen one that got fubar'd.  Some  idiot was using a bench as a rack, with a loaded bar.  It fent.

He could throw that weight on a yoke and walk around and quarter squat to his heart's content.  No brokeback mountain moments necessary either.

No, I called the importer and asked the same question. The knurling difference is a rumor, and not true. The only difference is that they don't certify the training bars for competition- I have the $800 bar.
