One of my idiot neighbors decided to grill himself up a few stakes on his patio. The problem is that his patio is an enclosed space, meaning that the smoke from his grill had no where to go. The city that I live in requires all apartment buildings to put a sticker on the windows and doors leading to the balconies notifying the tenant that grilling in a covered area is illegal and punishable with a $2,000 fine. The reason is because it can cause fires which could burn the whole place down...which is pretty much what happened. The guy's grill got out of control and started a small fire on the balcony. Fortunately, the building has sprinklers and smoke detectors on the balconies, so right now dumbass' dinner is being showered with water. Of course, that is after he forced everyone in the building out of their apartments with the fire alarms going off and the smell of smoke everywhere. It was pretty funny to see about 50 people standing downstairs from this idiot's place looking up at him as he stood in his door window watching his grill drown. Fucking idiot.

In my last apartment (have a house now), I was heading out one evening and saw a dumbass on the first floor of another building had a grill on his balcony (big no no) and there were three foot flames coming up out of it at the moment. Tenant was not on the balcony, and the grill was very close to the wall.
I didn't do anything, but if it were the building I lived in, I'd have gone over there and given him a whatfor, after calling the FD. |
