Watching many a youtube about WROL, Zombie apocalypse, etc and how people are stockpiling items for barter.
Has anyone really bartered recently? |

Watching many a youtube about WROL, Zombie apocalypse, etc and how people are stockpiling items for barter. Has anyone really bartered recently? Yep. We end up Bartering our farm harvest quite a bit, as well as labor and equipment. Nothing major though. I have an older specialty harvester I restored, and it can get into fields where most others can't, so often enough I'll get 10-15% harvested, in return for time and fuel. Of course I have to pay taxes and all that on the revenues from the fruit. There's two freezers full of Chicken, Beef, and veggies, that were bartered for fruit, and labor here and there. Heck I swapped an old sprayer for two Angus last year. It's actually a pretty common practice in Ag communitys. Everybody has an excess of something and a need for something else. Got a tile project and need a trencher? See if the neighbors cousin that has one, needs chickens. If it were stopped, there would be a LOT less food on the tables everywhere. |

Quoted: Barter is trade. Yes, I have. It's supposed to be useful pending currencies are useless. This is why people hoard silver and ammo. It's valuable. If currency goes tits up, they have something of value. There's a "Want to trade" forum here in the EE, even though currency is still an option for trade. |

Quoted: Here's hoping as I make a mean batch of cookies. Quoted: Quoted: Do you know what bartering is? You do it every day. Usually goods or services in exchange for cash. They expect WROL to mean trading sex for cookies. Here's hoping as I make a mean batch of cookies. I'm packing lots of condoms. |

I remember watching a show on UK preppers...There was an American woman living in London and her idea of being ready for WROL was a big box of condoms and a copy of the Quran.

Better stock up on things that can't be used against you. Bartering Ammo is just insane unless done with people that are known to you for years, and share common defense with you.
Tobacco Toilet Paper eggs, veggies, farm produce like rendered fat, cracklings, meat by-products. Feminine hygiene Home made wine, hard cider, beer, (I wouldn't trade distilled spirits,as they have medicinal qualities, and are flammable) services, like labor in fields for a share of the harvest. (again with neighbors that share common goals) Silver Gold High grade steel (think foundry/blacksmithing) Copper Hand tools |
