Right now I alternate days of push-ups and pull-ups.  I am looking for either an all around one day dumb bell routine or something I can split into 2 days.  I have a pull-up bar at home and a set of bow flex select tech dumb bells.

Yes, this is a basic and dumb question.

No, bro.  I don't lift, or at least I haven't since my last deployment.

I ask because searching for basic routines without a base of knowledge was getting me nowhere

Thanks

http://www.startbodyweight.com/ has what you're looking for. Doesn't require any equipment you don't already have.

I honestly don't know what is out there for dumbbell routines, most popular/tried and true lifting routines are barbell based.

DB bench press/shoulder press
DB rows
DB pullovers
pull ups and dips, put the DB between your feet for weight
lots of arm exercises with DB's
goblet squats
you can do deadlifts with DB's but you have to really low to start and you'll max it out quickly.
farmer's carries with DB's  (lots of variations)

there's a good starter solid program with DB's, until you max those out and want to move to Barbells.
I've never tried swings with a DB (I usually do them with KB's) but I bet you could it.  (maybe?)

Thanks, all.

I'm going to try the bodyweight thing posted above, first.

You can do most kettlebell circuits using your dumbbells.  Search YouTube for kettlebell circuits galore.

Also, if the squats/pistols aren't enough, you can use your dumbbells to make them heavier. Also use dumbells for single-leg deadlifts, as the bodyweight routines don't hit those too effectively.

PS: L-Sits are MURDER on your abs. I have a love/hate relationship with them.

You've got a pullup bar and dumbbells?  P90X.  Its simple, hard, and effective.
