Get a pair of made in USA Danners. Pay once, cry once.

You'll thank me in a few months.

Checkbook says Danners are not in my immediate future. As much as I agree, can't wait much longer as my shoes are toast.

OTB....

Got a pair on clearance at like 75% off. My only regret was not buying 2 pair BC I haven't found them at that price since.

I never could get more than a year out of a pair of Bates. The sole always cracks at the ball of the foot on the ones I have had.

I've always loved my bates. I wore the "seal" model (that's what they call it). they only last a year, but I usually only pay about $80.
danners are better boots, as someone said, but they're twice the weight. if you have the ability to swap out boots every year and do a lot of running in them, the bates win hands down.

I kept my Bates 918 from when I washed out of pre-BUD/s. They are rotten now but sentimental to me. I loved those. Hade a few pair while onboard ship.

Get a pair with Dura Shock. I think they share that technology with Wolverine. It works very good.

Bates used to be awesome, then their quality really dropped. Have they improved recently?

Every pair Bates of I've had have been plenty comfortable, but, with the exception of the pair I was issue in boot camp, they didn't last more than about 9-12 months. Don't remember what model any of them were though.
